Since Lorraine's passing, my mother, Vera, has shared fond memories of her while sitting next to her at church. It is without question that she was accomplished and made a profound impact in education. May she rest in peace and may the Lord comfort her family. Services for Lorraine Walker who died unexpectedly on Friday, April 25, 2014, have been determined.

Lorraine was born on November 11, 1954, in Vienna, Austria, to Thelma Williams Jr. and the late Maggie Williams. She was educated from elementary school through high school in USD #475. She later returned to Junction City and USD #475 and in 1981, accepted a third grade teaching position at Washington Elementary.

I know Lorraine from high school and our hometown church. She used to give announcements during the morning worship service. I have always had a lot of respect for her. The last time I saw Lorraine, I was visiting home in November 2012. Prior to that, it would have been over 20 years since I last seen her.
She will be missed and I thank God for her life. Would like to express our sympathy to the family of Lorraine. To the family of Loraine Walker......She will be truly missed......We have so many good memories of her.......she loved visiting us in Kansas City.

In 1986, she moved to the Alternative Center and taught there for two years. In 1988, she was offered the Principal position at Washington Elementary where she remained until her untimely death. Lorraine also received a Master’s in Education Administration from Kansas State University in 1982. — The Dyer family just buried our uncle Melvin Melbo Wayne Dyer! Mrs. Walker served as my sister's third grade teacher. We also remember her for her service to Second Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Walker served in various leadership roles over the years and I was blessed as a young girl to have such a powerful example of a professional, educated, and intelligent woman in my life. Having just moved back to Junction City, I was excited to have my son go to Washington Elementary and be with Lorraine.
A visitation will be held from 5pm - 8pm on Friday, May 2, at the Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue in Junction City. A public memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday, May 3, at Junction City Middle School, 700 Wildcat Lane, which is just south and west of US Hwy 77. The family will receive friends at the Second Missionary Baptist Church, 701 W. 10th Street, at the conclusion of Saturday’s memorial. Cremation will take place following these services.
